New three-story development can be seen at 1820 14th Street in Pico, Santa Monica. The non-profit developer, Community Corporation of Santa Monica, has successfully launched an affordable housing project. The project is a housing complex reserved for senior citizens; persons aged 62 and older.
DE Architects is responsible for the design concepts and construction.
The project site is a lot spanning across an area of 15,000 square feet. The housing complex is a three-story building consisting of thirty-nine apartment units. The floor area of the units starts from 450 square feet. The complex houses on-site amenities like a community room, a library, a computer lab, and offices for residents and staff. Open spaces, a courtyard, and a rooftop deck are also provided. Ten parking spaces are also a part of the development.
The architecture of the low-rise structure is expressed in contemporary styles clad in fiber cement panels and plaster. The building facade has a height of thirty feet.
The project’s estimated cost of construction is $25.5 million.
