Revised Hotel Plans at 2057 East 7th Street Increase Room Count in Arts District

Updated plans have been filed for a hotel development at 2057 East 7th Street in the Arts District, reflecting a shift in how the project allocates space between hospitality and commercial uses. The revised proposal replaces earlier concepts with a new ground-up building that emphasizes a larger room count within a slightly reduced overall program.

Galaxy Commercial Holdings is the applicant. The redesigned project is prepared by SCB Architecture. Earlier concepts were prepared by Omgivning.

The project is now planned as an 11-story hotel containing 123 guest rooms, an increase from the 103 rooms outlined in prior approvals. At the same time, the amount of commercial space has been scaled back to approximately 12,855 square feet. Proposed non-residential uses continue to include a gallery, restaurant, and bar, though the revised layout indicates a tighter integration of these functions within the building footprint.

Earlier plans for the site had envisioned a taller structure alongside the retention of an existing three-story building. The current proposal instead clears the site entirely, allowing the hotel program to be reorganized into a single, unified structure. This change reflects a shift away from a hybrid reuse strategy toward a more consolidated development approach.

Renderings depict a mid-rise building with a regular grid of windows along its primary facades, contrasted by a more expressive treatment on one elevation featuring a patterned exterior screen. The building’s massing appears more compact than the previously approved concept, with a consistent streetwall and active ground-floor frontage.

The revised proposal demonstrates how the project has evolved to prioritize hotel capacity while maintaining a reduced but still active commercial component, reshaping the balance between lodging and public-facing uses within the Arts District site.
