A new affordable residential project is underway on its project site at 515 Pioneer Drive in Glendale. The project proposal includes the construction of a large-scale affordable housing complex offering residential units, onsite amenities, and parking.
LINC Housing Corp. and National CORE are the project developers. KFA Architecture is responsible for the designs. Glendale acquired the property site from AT&T in 2019.
The project recently broke ground on a 2.8-acre site. The project will bring 340 units of deed-restricted affordable housing units above a two-level, 342-car subterranean parking garage. The apartment complex will yield a total built-up area of 300,000 square feet. Plans call for a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom dwellings which will cater to households earning between 30 and 80 percent of the area’s median income level. That total will include 92 apartments reserved for seniors aged 62 and older, 245 homes for low-income families and individuals, and three manager’s apartments.
Renderings reveal three five-story buildings clad in stucco, fiber cement panels, and thin brick veneer. More than 30,000 square feet of open space is planned across the complex in the form of courtyards, community gardens, rooftop decks, and children’s play areas.
The project is anticipated to reach completion in Winter 2025. It’s the largest affordable housing complex in the city’s history.
