“Sawyer,” at 411 South Normandie Avenue, is now leasing. The site is another development by Jameson Properties, which has dozens of developments in Koreatown. The location used to be a 1.12-acre church parking lot.
The building is seven stories high, with three levels of basement. It is 95 feet tall, 131 feet wide, and 302 feet long. There is 209,700 square feet of floor. The inside houses 224 apartments, ranging from studio to two-bedroom layouts.
Work from home amenities offered to the residents include a conference room, mailroom, and parcel lockers. Residents can relax in the club room with a pool table, roof deck with barbecue and lounge areas, pool deck and spa with cabanas, BBQ & firepit areas, and a lobby lounge. A kitchen, bar, and gym are on site as well. There are 150 compact, 7 disabled, and 217 standard parking stalls and 224 long-term and 23 short-term bicycle parking spaces.
Withee Malcolm Architects is behind the design. Inspiration was drawn from the architectural character and materials of a historic Normandy-style Korean Methodist Church located within the same block, reinterpreted with a more modern aesthetic.. $38.7 million was the initial permit valuation.
