Construction of an affordable housing development for seniors at 7219-7227 North Canby Avenue in Reseda has been initiated. The project proposes the construction of a four-story building. William Hezmalhalch Architects is managing the design concept and construction. Real estate developers Azure Development and Thomas Safran & Associates have teamed up to develop the project.

Named Canby Woods West, the affordable housing will feature 26 one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments reserved for seniors with low and very low income. On-site amenities like a fitness center, a courtyard, and parking space for six vehicles are also proposed. The project will also provide services like case management, financial education, and transportation assistance to its residents.

The project site is a vacant lot located north of Reseda Theatre. According to the information on Azure Development’s website, eligible residents will be selected via Los Angeles County’s coordinated entry system.

The estimated date of project completion has not been announced yet. The property will be developed next to Canby Woods, a 98-unit senior housing project also developed by Azure Development and Thomas Safran & Associates.
