Exterior work is nearing completion at 3737 South Motor Avenue in Palms, Los Angeles. Focus Builders are the primary contractor behind the project. The development will provide denser housing, as well as low-income housing, and some commercial space to the popular street that has seen several new developments take shape of the last couple of years.
The building will be five stories tall, with 21,600 square feet of floor. The dimensions will be 68 feet tall, 147 feet long, and 50 feet wide. Inside, there will be 30 apartment units. Three units will fall under the extremely low-income tier, and another three will fall under the very low-income tier.
Commercial space will be available on the ground floor. There will be one level of basement parking. Inside there will be 2 compact, 2 disabled, and 17 standard parking spaces. 32 long-term and 6 short-term bicycle spaces will also be on site. Bus stops running at both ends of the block provide additional transportation, as well as the E Line Metro, which is within walking distance.
Edward Carlson is listed as the architect for the project. It appears to be taking a contemporary coastal design, although renderings have been scarce. The permit valuation for the project, at the time of filing, was $5 million.
