A new supportive housing complex is starting to form facades at 4719-4721 South Normandie Avenue in Vermont Square, Los Angeles. The project proposal consists of the construction of a five-story housing complex, replacing a parking lot at the northwest corner of 48th Street and Normandie Avenue.
San Diego-based Wakeland Housing & Development is the project developer. Abode Communities is responsible for the design concepts and construction.
Named Chesterfield apartments, the housing complex will feature forty-three residences offered as a mix of studios and one-bedroom dwellings. Construction has now advanced to the third floor above ground. A small at-grade parking garage for four vehicles is planned. The apartments will be set aside for households with income at or below 30 percent of the area’s median income.
Renderings reveal a contemporary design and exterior expressed in thin brick and stucco. Other on-site amenities are inclusive of a community room and a rooftop deck.
The cost of construction is estimated at $26.6 million. The project broke ground six months ago and is now scheduled for completion in late 2022.
