Work is progressing on LAMP (Landslide Access Modernization Program) at LAX. The Consolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) facility is wrapping up on the structural concrete pouring phase. When completed, 6.4-million-square-foot complex will have space for 18,000 vehicles, making it the largest parking structure in the world.

Additionally, crews completed the installation of structural steel at the Intermodal Transportation Facility-East (ITF-East) station last month. They have begun installation of structural steel to support the station canopy at the West CTA station. Steel truss installation for the pedestrian bridge at Terminal 1 has been completed. Segmental construction of the guideway superstructure is also concluding over Parking Structure 2b and Sepulveda Boulevard. Work continues moving forward on station and pedestrian bridge construction.

When completed, the $5.5-billion upgrade will update the airport, increasing capacity and flow. $500-million will go towards the transit hub planned by Metro at the intersection of Aviation Boulevard and Arbor Vitae Street. The at-grade station will be served by Metro’s C (Green) and Crenshaw/LAX Lines, and various bus lines.

  1. these last few days, new structures at LAX are presented, each one drearier than the next…..or am I missing something? They look like Soviet structures from the 60’s?!?

  2. Just what LAX needs: MORE CARS = MORE GRIDLOCK!

    • Less gridlock because they are “consolidating” all the rental car parking lots that surround LAX into a single, multistory garage. And the air-train will eliminate dozens of Rental Car Busses that now go in and out of the airport at a constant pace.
