A new permanent supportive housing complex has opened at its site, 6329 Clybourn Street in North Hollywood, Los Angeles. The project proposal included the construction of a new four-story residential building offering affordable housing
Non-profits Abbey Road and Linc Housing are the project developers. KFA Architecture is responsible for the designs.
Named Sun Commons, the housing complex brings 103 units of affordable and permanent supportive housing. The building features 103 units designed as a mix of studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments. Nearly all units are reserved for formerly unhoused persons, as well as families and individuals earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area’s median income level.
The project, which had an estimated $60-million price tag at the time of a 2020 staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, was funded by sources including Measure HHH, Measure H, and Los Angeles County general funds.
Renderings reveal a low-rise complex with a V-shaped footprint and a contemporary exterior. In addition to housing, Sun Commons includes community rooms, rooftop decks, a children’s play area, and a community garden. Additionally, the building features on-site case management and supportive services. The housing complex is located just off of Victory Boulevard.
