Los Angeles may soon welcome a new hotel at 2250-2270 West Pico Boulevard in Pico-Union, as the project progresses following a recent Planning Commission review meeting. The project proposal includes the construction of two six-story hotel buildings offering rooms, parking and onsite amenities. The project calls for the demolition of an existing commercial building on the site.

Divine Hotels Group is the project applicant. JWDA Architects is responsible for the designs.

The project site consists of five parcels spanning an area of 28,345 square feet. The scope of work includes the construction of two six-story hotel buildings with 125 rooms, 130 parking spaces, 12 bicycle parking spaces. The hotel’s facade is proposed to rise to a maximum height of 77 feet.

The ground floor of both buildings would include a hotel lobby, a breakfast space, and entrance to the subterranean parking
levels. Additional office and storage space would be provided on the mezzanine level. The second floor will provide access to the hotel courtyard and pool as well as guest rooms. Floors 3-6 will have hotel guest rooms.

The façade is articulated with geometric forms and variations in color. The center of the West Pico Boulevard front would
feature an entry plaza. Proposed architectural materials include a mix of glass, metal and wood panels.

A project review meeting was held earlier this week. The construction of the project, including demolition, would take approximately 12 months from start to finish. Construction activities associated with the project would be undertaken in three main steps: demolition/site clearing, site preparation, and building construction.

The site is well served by regional and local public transit. Metro bus lines 30/330 run along Pico Boulevard with a stop located at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and West Pico Boulevard. Other nearby Metro options include routes 28, 200, 204, 603 and Rapid 728, 733, and 754.

  1. Another miserable building for LA.

  2. Will there be parking available for nearly neighbors?
