A new residential project has been approved for development at 638 South Berendo Street in Koreatown, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a new eight-story apartment complex offering 162 units and onsite parking. The project will replace surface parking.
Hankey Capital is the project developer.
Los Angels City Council has granted approvals for a new apartment complex rising eight stories high. The complex will bring 163 apartments designed as a mix of studios and one-bedroom floor plans.
The proposed development will also offer parking for 103 vehicles, most of which would serve users of an adjoining commercial building.
Project approvals included Transit Oriented Communities incentives, permitting a larger structure than local zoning rules would normally allow, in exchange for setting aside 18 of the apartments for rent as extremely low-income affordable housing for a period of 55 years.
The multifamily residential building will rise just north of Wilshire Boulevard in Koreatown.
