Construction has began for a new affordable housing project proposed at 12611 Willowbrook Avenue. The project proposal includes the construction of a new three-story affordable housing complex offering 50 dwelling units. The project site formerly housed the Drew Child Development Center.
Linc Housing Corp. is the project developer. D33 Design & Planning is responsible for the designs. Walton Construction is the general contractor.
Named Seaglass Apartments, the affordable housing complex will rise three stories high offering 50 dwelling units. All residences will be designed as one-bedroom floor plans. A two-bedroom apartment will be designed for an on-site manager. The units will be available for renters earning up to 30 percent of the area’s median income.
In addition to housing, the complex will offer laundry facilities, a community garden, a dog run, and offices and meeting rooms for case management services. Plans also call for a small garden along the southern property line.
Funding for the project came from various government sources. The housing complex will rise near the Mosaic Gardens apartments also built by Linc Housing. The complex is expected to open in 2026.
