A new affordable housing development is taking shape just west of MacArthur Park in Los Angeles’s Westlake neighborhood. The project, located at 668 South Coronado Street, replaces a small surface lot with a seven-story mixed-use building that will feature 122 residential units, 831 square feet of commercial space, and parking for 14 vehicles.
The development is led by RMG Housing, which acquired the site in 2023 from Jamison Services for approximately $7.5 million. Donaldson + Partners serves as the architect.

Plans call for a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, with 10 units reserved for very low-income households under the city’s affordable housing requirements. The remaining residences will rent at market-rate levels, contributing to Westlake’s growing stock of middle-density housing.
Renderings a contemporary façade distinguished by corrugated metal cladding and bright green balcony enclosures. The design is organized around two interconnected residential blocks that step slightly away from each other to maximize light and air between units. Large windows punctuate the gray exterior, while the green-accented balconies introduce color and rhythm to the streetscape. At the ground floor, floor-to-ceiling glass storefronts activate the pedestrian level along Coronado Street, integrating neighborhood-serving retail with residential entry points above a concrete podium.
The property had previously been entitled by Jamison for a similar mid-rise structure, complementing the adjacent Atlas Apartments, a former office building that the company converted into housing several years ago. RMG has since repositioned the project to deliver a larger share of affordable units, aligning with the city’s push for mixed-income infill housing in transit-served areas.
Located two blocks from MacArthur Park and a short walk from the Metro B Line, the site provides access to Downtown Los Angeles, Koreatown, and the expanding network of Westlake community resources.
