A new supportive housing project has been inaugurated at 1413 Michigan Avenue in Santa Monica. The project proposal includes the development of a four-story supportive housing complex offering 57 apartments. The project is built on the former site of Santa Monica Nikkei Hall.
EAH Housing is the project developer. KFA Architecture is responsible for the designs. Construction was managed by Westport Construction Inc.

Named The Laurel, a new permanent supportive housing complex completed its construction. The project consists of a four-story building offering 57 studios reserved for renters earning between 30 and 50 percent of the area’s median income level. One market-rate manager’s unit will is also developed. Onsite amenities include onsite laundry facilities, a community room, services provided by The People Concern, and a 12-car parking lot.
The project’s design incorporates part of Santa Monica Nikkei Hall. The residential complex features a C-shaped footprint wrapping a landscaped courtyard with seating. Additional open spaces are provided in the form of a community deck on the third floor and a second-level patio, both of which overlook the courtyard.
