A new affordable housing project has been proposed for development at 511 North Hoover Street in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of a new six-story building offering apartments at affordable rates.
Category Company is the project developer and also responsible for the designs.
The scope of work includes the construction of a new six-story apartment building offering 145 units. The residential units will be designed as a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom floor plans. Parking for 38 vehicles will also be provided on the site.
Requested approvals include density bonus incentives to permit a larger structure than zoning rules would otherwise allow. Except for a market-rate manager’s unit, the apartments are to be reserved for rent by moderate-, low-, and very low-income households.
The developer is considering Executive Directive 1 for the affordable housing complex. An application was recently submitted to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
Renderings reveal a contemporary low-rise structure with a central courtyard and a rooftop deck.
The estimated construction timeline has not been revealed yet. The project site is located north of the US-101 Freeway in East Hollywood.
