A new headhouse for Terminals 2 and 3 is set to open April 20th at LAX. A ribbon cutting was held March 29th. It is the first phase of a $2.3 billion modernization of the facilities. It will include new ticketing lobbies and baggage claim areas, a consolidated Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint, and a Delta Sky Club.
The closest parking structure, 2A, has reopened, supporting traffic to and from the terminal. Parking is still limited, and making a reservation through the new electronic Smart Parking system is recommended. The roof is still closed for work on the APM’s Center CTA station. Guests can temporarily exit through Parking Structure 2B onto West Way.
Additional access is still under construction. On the Upper/Departures Level, the right drop off lane is still closed in order to create a temporary walkway. Other lane closures are in the vicinity of the new elevated pedestrian bridge to the future Center CTA station. They largely take place overnight. Lane reductions are in the area of the elevated walkway between Terminal 3 and the future West CTA station.
Access within the terminal will include a new path of travel. Construction is still taking place on a replacement for Terminal 3. It is expected to open later this year.
