Work is picking up on the Oceanwide Plaza, in Downtown Los Angeles at 1101 Flower Street. The site was supposed to open in 2019, but has been stalled for a variety of reasons. When completed, it will bring 504 units to the popular area, just across the street from the Staples Center. CallisonRTKL is the architecture firm for the development.
The design will be made of three towers on top of a podium. The largest tower will be 49 stories tall. A 183-key Park Hyatt Los Angeles hotel and 164 branded Park Hyatt residences are proposed for the inside, along with amenities including event spaces, restaurants, a spa with a rooftop pool and event deck.
The other two towers will be 40 stories tall. They will have 340 units of luxury condominiums. Amenities will include private screening rooms, a dog washing facility, fitness facilities, at-home workspaces, and conference facilities.
All of the towers will rest on a 200,000 square foot retail podium. It will be surrounded by a lawn, playground, barbecues, a pool and a running track. It will also be rapped by large LED ribbon that will encompass the full block between 11th and 12th Streets. The original budget for the build was $1 billion.

This is great news. How is the development “picking up”?
