A development has been proposed at 1 Baxter Way, in Thousand Oaks. The site is currently a 386,500 square foot office building that was approved in the late 70’s as headquarters for Prudential Insurance Company. The current owner, Kennedy Wilson, proposes splitting the 43 acre property into two lots, a 34 acre lot with another at 9 acres.

The smaller lot would be the location of the improvements. Designs include four multi-family buildings with a total of 264 apartment units, semi-subterranean parking, surface parking, and one 5-story parking garage. Pedestrian connections would be built from Thousand Oaks Boulevard, South Lakeview Canyon Road, and the existing Promenade shopping center to the west. The main source of car access is depicted along South Lakeview Canyon Road.

The proposal is still in early stages of drafting. However, current amenities include a pool, spa, terrace with fireplace, recreation/community room, barbeque area, clubhouse/gym, balconies, courtyards, and rooftop terraces. Grading and landscaping improvements would also be made.

KTGY is the architectural firm behind the new design. The site has changed hands a couple of times over the years. It was previously owned by GTE, which is now Verizon.
