Twenty-eight to thirty tiny homes have been proposed for 5208 and 5230 Cypress Road, in Oxnard. The site is currently an irregular shaped lot. Habitat for Humanity is behind the proposal, which they sometimes refer to as “Cypress Court.”

A private road will be built down the center of the property, with buildings on either side, and a loop and the end. The homes will be made as “Tiny Duplexes,” ranging from 450 to 550 square feet each. Designs will include one bedroom and studio layouts. Some of the units may have lofts. Renderings depict a contemporary aesthetic, with slanted roofs, wood paneling, and covered porches.

Residents will be limited to people experiencing homelessness, seniors, and others with low incomes. A community room, laundry facilities, and open green space will be on location. Garden City Acres Park is less than a block away and includes playground equipment, a walking trail, and a basketball court. Car and bike parking will be provided. The Pleasant Valley and Squires bus stop is a short walk away.

Mainstreet Architects, who have since merged with RRM Design, are behind the architectural design of the site. The project may start as early as this year, according to the Habitat for Hummanity page dedicated to the proposal. Donations and funding are still being accepted.
