Low income apartments have opened at 2161 East Etting Road, in Oxnard. Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation is behind the project. The homes are reserved for farmworkers and veterans, with services for both communities on site.
The lot is nearly two acres, in a trapezoidal shape. It was previously vacant and undeveloped. It is bordered by East Pleasant Valley Road to the North, cemetery uses to the East and West, and East Etting Road to the South.
The site has 57 affordable units and one manager’s unit. They are arranged in four buildings, two of which are two-story and the other two are three-story. Many of the apartments have private patios and balconies. The layouts are a mix of one, two, and three bedroom designs.
Amenities include a community room, community gardens, and common courtyards. Parking includes 82 at-grade surface spaces, located in two lots at the eastern and western sides of the building. Lauterbach & Associates are the architects behind the design. Development required installation of new fire water, wastewater, and stormwater lines, as well as stormwater catch basins, a new curb, a gutter, and sidewalks.
