A new residential project will soon make its way at 5420 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a large-scale residential project that will replace a shopping center on the site.
American Commercial Equities is the project developer. TCA Architects is responsible for the designs.
Demolition has commenced for the shopping center and the project was approved in September 2022. The project will bring a new mixed-use complex featuring 735 studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments above upwards of 95,000 square feet of commercial space. The commercial space will include room for a market, a restaurant, and general retail. Parking for roughly 1,400 vehicles will be provided on the site. The new commercial uses would be roughly equivalent to the 100,000 square feet of commercial floor area now being razed.
Renderings reveal four contemporary, plaster-clad buildings bisected by a T-shaped paseo. The new six-story structures would have pedestrian connections between Western, Sunset, and Serrano Avenue, as well as seven courtyards and other amenities such as a swimming pool, a game room, and a fitness center.
Construction is expected to occur over approximately 48 months, with completion anticipated in 2026. The project site is located at the intersection of Sunset and Western Avenues.
