A new conversion project has been proposed to change commercial space into housing at 955 North Vignes Street in Downtown Los Angeles. The project proposal pitches offering interim housing by converting a commercial building. The project would make housing and other services available for inmates leaving Men’s Central Jail.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has voted to spend roughly $1.8 million to acquire the project site. Named The Warm Landing Place, the project will be available for inmates at risk of being unhoused. The property will be a single-story 4,760-square-foot building offering space to house 10 and 15 interim beds. The property will be staffed at all hours.
A project application has been submitted seeking review and approval. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet. Stay tuned to LAYIMBY.com for more information.
