A new residential project will soon be developed at 1655-1661 Allesandro Street in Echo Park, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of a building offering apartments, replacing a manufacturing building built in the 1940s on the site.
GA Engineering is responsible for the design concepts. An entity affiliated with West Hollywood-based AJ. Khair Development & Construction is the project applicant.
Plans call for the construction of a five-story building featuring 41 one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments above at-grade parking for 35 vehicles.
Requested entitlements include Transit Oriented Communities incentives permitting a larger structure than otherwise allowed under zoning rules. In exchange, four of the apartments will be reserved as extremely low-income affordable housing.
The proposed project will rise from a property located at the southwest corner of Allesandro Street and Effie Street. A similar residential development was recently completed across the street.
Renderings reveal a contemporary low-rise building, including a courtyard, a rear yard, and a rooftop amenity deck. The project is under review and an estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.
