“Coastline Ventura” has recently opened at 997 Vista Del Mar. The project, by Johnson Development, has been over 15 years in the making. It will bring new, beachfront housing and retail to Ventura, as one of only nine institutional apartments in the western United States with ocean views and direct beach access.

The site is composed of eleven unique buildings in “mansion” and “stacked dwelling” configurations. Balancing variety and consistency, structures range in height including 2-, 3-, and 4-stories. There are 231 dwelling units in total. 85 percent of the apartment homes have views of the beach. Layouts range from one bedroom, one bath, to three-bedroom, two and a half bath designs. Some of the units provide a live/work environment. Prices start at $2,640 a month.

Many amenities are included on-site. A food truck staging area with a patio and a seaside-themed playground are standout features. There is a pool, spa, outdoor grilling station, fire pits, outdoor kitchen, clubhouse, 24-hour fitness studio, and assigned parking garages. There is a co-working lounge and a 24/7 package locker system for those who want to work from home. There is a spa and park area specifically for pets.

WHA is the architectural firm behind the project. The unique, coastal enclave was inspired by Ventura’s Foster Library and other mid-century architectural motifs. The site was referred to as “Ventura Triangle” in early plans. Applications for new residents are currently being accepted.
