1621 North McCadden Place is taking shape, in Hollywood. The project will bring 69 new micro units to a 7,400 square foot lot. Housing Diversity Corporation, out of Seattle, is the developer behind the project.
The building is eight stories tall. When completed, it will have 41,500 square feet of floor, including 360 square feet of retail. Each of the micro units will be about 375 square feet. Many will include balconies. Eight units will fall under the extremely low income housing, while the rest will be priced lower than surrounding units, because of the size.
Amenities will include a rooftop deck, lounge, spa, and co-working space. There will be no car parking on site, although some bike parking will be available. The location is a block away from the Hollywood and Highland Metro Red Line station.
Steinberg Hart is the architecture firm for the project. The podium design relies on five levels of wood-frame construction above a three-level concrete base. Rent was expected to be about $2,000 a month per a unit, at the time of ground breaking. STS Construction is working on the build out.

Excellent! More housing for more people; I love that developers are taking on the affordable housing sector, even if it’s for value capture from the city. This is the way.
