A new residential tower will soon be seen soaring high at 1000 South Hill Street in Downtown Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of a 60-story high-rise, offering residential units and onsite amenities. The project replaces an onsite surface parking lot before breaking ground.
Canadian real estate development firm, Onni Group, is the project builder. IBI Group and Chris Dikeakos Architects are responsible for the design concepts.
This will be Downtown LA’s first new high-rise since the onset of the pandemic. Site preparation has begun and soon construction will start on the project site. The 60-story high tower will consist of 700 apartments, sprouting from a podium structure containing parking for more than 1,000 vehicles and 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.
Renderings reveal a contemporary design in glass and steel, featuring mullions on the top roof screen, letting the podium facade create a sense of cohesiveness between the top and bottom of the building. Angular shapes and forms including the balconies on the two sides of the building as well as the triangular shaped screen at the roof are used to create a dynamic impression.
Even though the high-rise will soar to a height of 760 feet, it will be the city’s 8th tallest building if completed today, and its tallest residential tower.
An environmental study conducted for the project estimated that construction of the tower would be completed over period of approximately 30 months. The project site is located at the southeast corner of Olympic Street & Hill Street.
