A new affordable housing project is under construction taking shape and form at 3434 South Chesapeake Avenue in West Adams, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a new five-story building offering 66 apartments.
Lindon Shiao is listed as the project applicant. Kevin Tsai Architecture is responsible for the designs.
The scope of work includes bringing 66 apartments into a five-story building. The apartments will be designed as a mix of studios and one-bedroom floor plans. No on-site parking has been proposed yet. Renderings reveal a facade designed in metal and painted stucco.
The building will offer one market-rate manager’s unit, however, all units will be reserved for occupancy by low- and moderate-income residents. This renders the project eligible for density bonus incentives to permit a larger building than otherwise allowed by zoning rules.
The project will be constructed utilizing Executive Directive 1 affordable housing initiative. A project application has been submitted to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning for review and approval.
The project site is located near E Line’s Farmdale Station.
