Long Beach and its Mayor Robert Garcia celebrated the completion of a mixed-use supportive housing complex at 1900 Long Beach Boulevard in Midtown, Long Beach. The project brings affordable and supportive housing units near the Metro A Line’s PCH station.
Linc Housing is the project developer. City Fabrick, D33 Design, and WHA Architects are responsible for the design concepts and construction.
The property is named and marketed as The Spark at Midtown. The building is a five-story edifice and offers 95 apartments for low-income families. The apartments are available as a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, three-bedroom units, reserved for households earning no more than 60 percent of the area median income. Supportive units are complemented with on-site case management services.
At street level, the building includes space for the YMCA of Greater Long Beach Community Development Branch’s Youth Institute and Change Agent Productions, as well as a health clinic run by Dignity Health St. Mary Medical Center. A third space, currently vacant, is reserved for a local restaurant.
Renderings reveal a contemporary podium-style structure with a steel-level pocket park. On-site amenities are inclusive of a community room, space for after-school programs, a demonstration kitchen, a meeting space, and a courtyard for residents.
The property site is located at a corner lot in Long Beach Boulevard.
