New renderings have been revealed for an income-restricted housing project proposed at 1880 East Walnut Street in Pasadena. The project proposal includes the development of a two-to-four-story condominium building located on the south side of Walnut Street between Parkwood and Greenwood Avenues.
Pasadena-based non-profit builder Heritage Housing Partners is the project developer. Moule & Polyzoides is responsible for the design concepts.
Plans call for the construction of a two-to-four-story building featuring 58 condominiums, offered as a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom flats and townhomes. The residences will be built above a one-level basement garage with a capacity of 97 vehicles.
Renderings reveal a Post-Modern style, showcasing a number of terrace decks, courtyards, and alcoves to provide open space for residents. Updated renderings provided to the Design Commission showcase an exterior of brick, plaster, concrete, terra cotta, and other materials.
On April 12, the Pasadena Design Commission was scheduled to take its final look at the proposal. The project sits on a site located a half-mile south of the L Line’s Allen Station. A staff report to the Commission states that the project has undergone changes in the wake of feedback given in late 2020 by the Commission, and recommends approval of the final design concept with conditions to ensure further refinement.
