A new mixed-use residential project is under construction taking shape and form at 150 North Santa Anita Avenue in Arcadia. The project proposal includes the development of a new seven-story building offering residential units. The project replaced a surface parking lot on the site.
Trammell Crow Residential is the project developer. Studio One Eleven is responsible for the designs.
Named The Alexan Azalea, the project was granted approvals in 2022. The scope of work includes the development of a mixed-use apartment complex offering 319 apartments. The apartments will be designed as a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom floor plans. Parking for more than 570 vehicles is also proposed.
The developer is required to set aside 26 of the apartments as affordable housing, a requirement of density bonus incentives used to achieve the building’s planned scale and density.
Project plans reveal that the new structure will sit adjacent to a new outdoor plaza. The plaza will separate the new apartments from an existing eight-story office building, while an alley on the eastern property line will be converted into pedestrian paseo to provide quicker access to the nearby A Line station. The developer aims to retain an existing bank, and add a small cafe within the adjacent office building.
The project broke ground in May 2024, and construction is expected to last for a 26-month period. The project is a Metro-adjacent development, rising south of the A Line in Arcadia.
