A new interim housing project is under construction taking shape and form at 1020 West Exposition Boulevard in Exposition Park, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of a new four-story building offering 25 apartments. The project replaced a surface parking lot on the site.
Wellnest is listed as the developer and service provider. LOHA is responsible for the designs.
Construction permits have been issued by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety. Named The Nest on Exposition, the project has began construction on the new interim housing complex in Exposition Park. The scope of work includes the development of a four-story building with 25 apartments.
Renderings reveal a facade with an exterior of corrugated metal. The apartments will span roughly 300 square feet in size. Plans also call for a laundry facility, offices for service providers, and community rooms.
The project secured funding a Project Homekey allocation awarded to Los Angeles County in late 2023. At the time the funding was announced, the Nest was expected to cater to youth in foster care and juvenile probation systems, with 16 apartments to be set aside for participants in the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services Transitional Housing Program Plus.
