A small-scale hotel project is under construction taking shape and form at 1145 Highland Avenue in Manhattan Beach. The project proposal includes the constriction of a hotel offering nine rooms and onsite parking. The project replaced a 1930s commercial building on the site.
Tony Choueke of Beach Man Properties, LLC is the project applicant. Tomaro Architecture is responsible for the designs.
The scope of work includes the demolition of the existing commercial building, which houses offices. Plans call for the construction of new two-to-three-story building featuring a nine-room hotel with a two-car basement garage.
The submitted staff report indicates that the building design is in compliance with many standards of Manhattan Beach’s Downtown Design Guidelines, including requirements for a main pedestrian entrance along Highland, an articulated facade, and scale to match nearby structures.
The project site is located two blocks from the Manhattan Beach Pier.
