1010 Cachuma Avenue is awaiting plan resubmittal, in Ventura. The project has been titled “Scandia Village,” by developer Scandia Village LLC. Plans faced “Significant technical issues,” according to various departments of the city, including Ventura Water, Ventura Fire, Environmental Services, and Public Works, although there were no complaints from Building and Safety.

The project requires the demolition of two existing single family residences, constructed in the 1940s, and a couple sheds, at 1010 and 1020 Cachuma Avenue. The accessory structures were deemed not historically significant. The property is 2.1 acres overall.

A 30-unit multi-family residential development is proposed for the site. Designs call for six buildings with a maximum height of two stories. Units will range in size from 1,400 to 1,900 square feet. Some of the units will be low income housing. There will be a total of 76 parking spaces with 60 garage, 16 uncovered, and 8 covered carport spaces. Solar panels are anticipated for the top of the carports.

Mainstreet Architects and Planners are behind the design. The aesthetic is described as “A tasteful, distinctive modem floor plan and exterior design,” according to planning documents. Community improvements included in the plans are new sidewalks to connect to existing sidewalks and creating a more walkable community, trees on the property alongside the alley to help alleviate speed, and installing speed bumps in the alley to help reduce speed.
