6940 North Owensmouth Avenue is taking shape, in Canoga Park. The project, is by Meta Housing, a firm that specializes in arranging complex financing structures. It has been titled “Bell Creek Apartments.” All 80 apartments inside will be low income housing. The aim is to provide homes for families and individuals with special needs.

The structure is 59 feet tall, 190 feet long, and 150 feet wide. It is five stories high, with 79,200 square feet of floor. Four units will fall under the extremely low-income tier, 12 under the very low-income tier, and 64 under the moderate-income tier. One-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts will be available.

Amenities will include a large community room with recreation space, a fitness center, and centrally located, open courtyards. There will be 10 compact, 4 disabled, and 52 standard parking spaces. 62 long-term and 6 short-term bicycle parking spaces will be on site. Public transit, parks, grocery stores, healthcare facilities, public schools and community centers, are all within a mile of the property.

Mogavero Architects are behind the design. The aesthetic is a contemporary interpretation of Mediterranean elements. Financing from Western Community Housing, City of Los Angeles Housing + Community Investment Department, Los Angeles County Development Authority, California Tax Credit Allocation Committee (CTCAC), and California Debt Limit Allocation Committee (CDLAC) all contributed to the project.
