A new mixed-use affordable housing project is under construction at 8500 South Vermont Avenue in Broadway-Manchester, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a mixed-use complex featuring two buildings offering spaces for retail and residential uses.
San Francisco-based Bridge Housing Corporation is the project developer. TCA Architects is responsible for the designs. The project team also includes CRCD, Primestor, and Suffolk.
Named Evermont, the project will bring two buildings that will feature a combined total of 180 apartments. Luminus@Evermont, the first building, will include 118 apartments designed as a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom floor plans. The units will be reserved for households earning between 30 and 80 percent of the Los Angeles area median income. Vista@Evermont, the second building, will feature 62 one-bedroom dwellings. These units will be set aside for seniors earning up to 30 percent of the area median income level.
Both buildings will be six stories high. Other than apartments, the complex will also feature a Target store on the ground floor, spanning an area of 40,000 square feet.
The project site is located at the intersection of Vermont Avenue and Manchester Avenue. The project broke ground in mid-2022, and a two-year construction timeline was expected at the beginning.
