Work is progressing on the Wagon Wheel master-planned community, also known as The Village, in Oxnard. When completed the site will bring 1,500 residential dwellings, 50,000 square feet of “Main Street” retail, parks, and open space, off of North Oxnard Boulevard, next to highway 101.
The site was once a kitschy roadside novelty, to which the name pays homage. It is now being reimaged as a dynamic planned community on 64-acres of land. The first phase of the construction began in 2013, with market-rate apartments, and some commercial space, which are now largly occupied.
Currently, “Town Square,” a collection of 452 apartments and 34,000 square feet of commercial space is the most visible construction from the freeway, topping out at six stories. Work is also underway at Oxford Flats, a collection of 144 condos, Park Place, 78 townhomes, and Mayfair, 88 townhomes. 322 unnamed units, on three separate lots, have not broken ground yet.
Oxnard CRFL Partners, LLC are the owners of the project. When completed, the site will offer a variety of amenities including large spacious parks, jogging, and walking trails, paseos, places to relax. There will be a “town square” with retail, restaurants, and a bowling alley. 50 commuter park and ride spaces will be offered near the bus stop at a corner of the property.
