Vancouver-based real estate developer, Omni Group, has initiated the construction of a high-rise residential development on the east side of Long Beach between Broadway and 3rd Street. The project proposal includes the construction of a 23-story residential high-rise featuring 400+ apartments and retail space. Plans call for rebuilding the Acres of Books building to serve as an approximately 9,300-square-foot food hall. The facade of the brick building, which is a historic landmark, will be retained.

IBI Group is managing the design concepts and construction of the project.

The property site is a two-acre lot. Plans reveal a building containing 432 apartments with 23,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor. The complex will also feature a two-level subterranean car parking garage with a capacity of 501 cars. The residential units will be offered as a mix of one-bedroom apartments and studios.

The building facade will rise to a height of 252 feet. The architecture style is expressed in glass and concrete. The complex will include a seven-story podium fronting the high-rise buildings. A central courtyard will frame the building and will be accessible through an entrance toward Long Beach Boulevard and Broadway.
