2024 Ventura Boulevard has opened in Camarillo. The project, by Aldersgate Investment, brings 23 low-income housing rentals to the area, as well as revitalizing the downtown stretch with some commercial space. It has been titled, “The Mark.”
The building has frontage on Ventura Boulevard, Cedar Drive, and Oak Street. It
is 45 feet tall at the highest point, and covers 65 percent of the 0.59 acre lot. The units are a mix of one studio, 10 one bedroom units, 8 two bedroom units, and three two bedroom townhouses. One falls under the low income tier and 22 under the moderate income tier.
Design features include a courtyard on the second floor and a rooftop deck. Other amenities are an elevator, various stairways, and a laundry facility. Four commercial spaces on the ground floor ranging in size from 1,500 square feet to 2,000 square feet. Some sidewalk seating is designed for restaurant use. Overall parking includes 23 residential spaces, 21 new commercial spaces, and 21 existing commercial spaces.
Mainstreet Architects + Planners are behind the architectural design. It is Spanish style, mixed with a contemporary look and feel. The site was previously a service station, auto garage, and drive through restaurant, before falling into disrepair and vacancy.
