Construction continues at Somis and Upland Roads, in Camarillo. The development, by Shea Homes, will bring a mix of 281 single-family, cluster, and townhome units to the hilly tract, with views of the surrounding area. So far at least 85 units have been built.

The development is made of 182 numbered lots and 39 lettered lots. It reaches about 83 acres. There will be four separate areas with landscaping dividing them. The mix of single family detached homes will range from 2,300 to 2,900 square feet, the clustered single family from 1,800 to 2,400 square feet, and townhomes from 1,500 to 2,300 square feet.

There are 17 plan variations, all of which will have living space on the ground level. Designs will include Adobe Ranch, Andalusian, Santa Barbara, Hacienda, and Spanish Colonial architecture. Materials will be brick, iron work, ceramic tile, stucco, concrete tile, exposed rafter tails, and wood shutters. Exteriors will be shaped by porches, a variety of columns and arches, and recessed entrances. Some units can be upgraded to include a living space on a second floor. Most buildings will be a maximum of 20 feet, with the pop up option reaching 26 feet. There will be a total of 1,051 parking spaces, 562 of which are enclosed, two car garages and 489 open street, driveway, and guest parking spaces.

A 4,900 square foot recreational building with a pool, spa and other amenities is on the northern portion of the site, and a one mile private trail system will run through the property, connecting residents to the amenities and vistas.A quarter mile bikeway trailhead, connecting with the city’s Callegues Creek bike path, adding 16 additional parking spaces in front of it is another distinct feature.
