A new affordable housing project has been proposed for development at 946 Linden Avenue in Long Beach. The project proposal includes the construction of a new four-story building featuring spaces for residential use, along with onsite amenities and parking. The site is occupied by the First Lutheran School.

The Long Beach Community Investment Company, a non-profit affiliate of the City of Long Beach is the project sponsor. AMCAL Multi Family Housing Company is the project developer.

The developer secured a loan of $3.6M to purchase the site. The project site is vast parcel spanning an area of 1.1 acres. Plans call for the construction of a four-story building featuring 100 apartments units available for rent at low-income and very low-income rates. The units will be designed as a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom floor plans.

In addition to housing, the complex will also feature amenities including a community room, a fitness center, a computer center, a courtyard, and a tot lot. The complex will offer underground parking for up to 125 vehicles.

Construction is expected to begin in late 2024.

  1. Hopefully they will make a good faith effort to integrate the historic structures on the site. Keeping the storefronts and church tower and ha would be very cool.
