A new affordable housing community has been approved for development at 1500 East Anaheim Street in Long Beach. The project proposal includes the construction of a five-story building offering residential units at affordable rates.

Bridge Housing Corp is the project developer. SVA Architects is responsible for the designs.

Last week, an inauguration ceremony was held, celebrating the completion of a new affordable and permanent supportive housing complex. Named Wellspring, the project brings a five-story building offering 88 apartment units, designed as a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom floor plans. Parking for 156 vehicles will be provided on the site.

The new housing is available for renters earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area’s median income level,  including 20 apartments for formerly homeless seniors.

Future residents will be able to enjoy amenities like a rooftop deck, a central courtyard, and recreation rooms.

The building also features an 18,000-square-foot community health center which is operated by TCC Family Health. The facility is scheduled to open later this year, and will provide pediatric and adult services, dental care, women’s health services, acupuncture, behavioral health services, and a pharmacy. Abode Communities is designing the wellness center.

The project site is located at the intersection of Anaheim Street and Walnut Avenue.
