Homeboy Industries expands into affordable housing proposed at 903 North Main Street in Chinatown, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of a residential building, replacing a parking lot on the site. The project will provide housing for participants in Homeboy’s 18-month training program. The non-profit organization Homeboy Industries is the project developer. Homeboy Industries has long been acclaimed for its gang rehabilitation and anti-recidivism services. KFA Architecture is responsible for the design concepts and construction.

Los Angeles Planning Commission Approves Women’s Center Expansion In Downtown

Los Angeles City Planning Commission has approved plans from the Downtown Women’s Center at 501 East 5th Street to expand its campus onto a neighboring parking lot at 5th Street and San Pedro Street in Skid Row. Daylight Community Development and GTM Holdings have partnered to develop the project. Gensler is designing the Downtown Women’s Center expansion, with KFA Architecture serving as the architect of record.

“The Roy,” at 33644 Overland Avenue, has opened in Palms. Anejo Development and Griffin Opportunities collaborated in the development of the site, which used to have several smaller residential buildings. The property is now much denser, with added retail space.

New multi-family residential buildings are under construction at 840 South Mariposa Street in Koreatown, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of two buildings with residential units and basement parking. Woodland Hills-based venture, CGI Strategies, is the project developer. KFA Architecture is managing the design concepts and construction.

Framework Rising for CGI Developments, in Koreatown

Back-to-back developments are rising at 839 Fedora Street and 826-840 South Mariposa Avenue, in Koreatown. CGI Strategies is the developer behind both buildings. Six lots were assembled to make the site, which was acquired in 2017. The site will have a large roof deck that will provide views of the Los Angels Skyline.

Excavation Underway for 7500 and 7550 Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood

Excavation is well underway for construction of a new mixed-use development at 7500 and 7550 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The properties, next door to each other, are in development by Faring Capital. They will bring street-front retail and restaurants to this section of Sunset Boulevard, as well as provide denser housing.

The exterior of Llewellyn apartments is nearly finished at 1101 North Main Street, in Chinatown. The site is right across the street from Los Angeles State Historic Park. Trammell Crow Company is the developer behind the project, which aims to establish itself as the residential prototype in a neighborhood that is transitioning from early 20th century industrial uses to a vibrant, artsy mixed-use community.
