K Line Opens through West Adams, Inglewood, and Westchester

Los Angeles Metro Rail has announced the opening of the highly anticipated K Line. The route adds seven new stops, and will eventually connect Metro Line E, which travels between Downtown and Santa Monica, to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The light rail line currently serves the communities of West Adams, Jefferson Park, Baldwin Hills, Leimert Park, Hyde Park, Inglewood, and Westchester. The official metro website states that “The K Line was designed and built with the help of community input and local voices to provide a faster, more convenient and reliable way to connect to jobs, schools and the rich cultural places throughout these communities.”

Housing + Retail Proposed At 939 West Manchester Boulevard, Inglewood, Los Angeles

A new mixed-use project has been proposed for development at 939 West Manchester Boulevard in Inglewood, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of an eight-story mixed-use building offering residential and retail spaces. The new construction will replace a car wash on the site. Allied Urban is the project developer. TCA Architects is responsible for the designs.

An affordable housing complex has finished construction at 923 East Redondo Boulevard in Inglewood, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of an apartment building offering supportive housing and commercial spaces. Plans call for the demolition of a Los Angeles County office building on the site. LINC Housing Corporation and National CORE are the project developers. KFA Architecture is responsible for the design concepts.

The city will soon have a new hotel added, and site preparation has begun for a hotel proposed at 11814-11824 Aviation Boulevard, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the demolition of an empty commercial building and the construction of a new hotel. Hawthorne-based firm William Ashley Inc is the project developer and purchased the land in 2016.

Thomas Safran & Associates is the project developer. Withee Malcom Architects is managing the design concepts and construction.
