Construction crews have broken ground for a new six-story residential development at 760 South Serrano Avenue in Koreatown, Los Angeles. The LA-based Jamison Properties Inc is the real estate development company behind the project. They are working with Wilshire Construction to transform what used to be a surface level parking lot.
The 77 foot structure will prodice 157 residential units, of which 16 will be low income. There will also be 2 levels of subterranean parking, with 110 spaces for long term bicycle parking, and 16 spaces for short term bicycle parking. Designs include space for a courtyard, pool, and spa, as well as a rooftop deck.
The plan is part of the Transit Oriented Communities Affordable Housing Incentive Program, rewarding housing near public transit, such as bus and rail lines. The program was created in 2016 after the Measure JJJ was approved by the ballot box.For 760 South Serrano Avenue, the Wilshire/Western Station is a couple of blocks away, with connection to the purple line. A two story, outdoor mall is across 8th street, as well other local shopping and restaurants close by.
The design for the location was created by California architecture and planning firm, Togawa Smith Martin. Renderings depict a modern design, with glass and stucco surfaces, accented with red features. The project is estimated to cost $18 million.
