Ground is starting to move at the intersection of Johnson Drive and Northbank Drive, in Ventura. The project, previously titled Northbank Ventura, by developers Ravello Holdings and Devco, has been renamed to “The Willows.” The project will bring housing and commercial space to a long empty 8.03 acre parcel near the 101 freeway.
Plans call for 306 housing units in total, supported by a 5,000 square foot clubhouse. 19 of the homes will be low income housing. There will also be 5,000 square feet of commercial space at the site, although none of the units will be live/work accommodations. All of the buildings will reach no higher than five stories.
The layout will create four new city blocks, with thirteen buildings, including one commercial block building, three mansion buildings, six stacked dwelling buildings and three rowhouse buildings. All will be in a contemporary architectural style. 559 off-street parking spaces, 461 of which will be garage spaces, will be included. Additional parking will be created on some of the streets.
Paul Essick Architects is behind the design. Plans include a quarter acre public park and improvements to the existing linear park to the north and east of the site. Upgrades include landscaping, a new pathway and construction of a stormwater detention basin.

I wonder if they have elevators.
The earth is moving for these terrible buildings? Why.
They use the word “housing unit” but no where is an expanation if they will be apartments? Condos? What?
Also…did you really need them five stories high? That view of the mountains off the 101 will be totally blocked.
Just because some land is vacant do we really need to build on it? Grow on it.
I never thoiught Ventura would start thinking and developing and looking like Oxnards unlimited wall to wall housing. On every possible square foot of dirt. Look at Wagon Wheel. Insane. That should NEVER have been approved.
Do you have a waiting list for low income retired people.
I’m interested in a one bedroom low income
