A new affordable housing project is under construction taking shape and form at 1734 South Barrington Avenue in Sawtelle, Los Angeles. The project proposal included the development of a new six-story housing complex offering apartments at affordable rates. The project replaced a 1950s triplex on the site.
Los Angeles-based firm Passo is the project developer. Aero Collective is responsible for the designs.
The scope of work includes the development of a new six-story building offering 37 apartments as affordable housing. The units will be developed as studios and one-bedroom floor plans.
The project will be built utilizing Executive Directive 1. The proposed apartments will be available for households with very low-, low-, and moderate incomes, except for a single market-rate manager’s unit. That would make the project eligible for density bonus incentives permitting a larger building than otherwise allowed by zoning rules.
The estimated construction timeline has not been revealed yet.
