A new affordable housing project has been approved for development at 1318 14th Street in Santa Monica. The project proposal includes the development of a new six-story building offering residential units at affordable rates along with commercial space and onsite parking.
EAH Housing is the project developer. VTBS Architects, Epstein & Associates, AMJ Construction Management, California Housing Partnership, and The Lynch Group, Inc. are part of the project team.
The Santa Monica City Council approved the project proposal slated for development on the former site of Parking Structure 3. The next steps will involve the collecting public financing for the proposed affordable housing complex.
Approved design concepts call for the construction of a new six-story building offering 122 apartments. The apartments will be deigned as studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom floor plans. Out of the total, the complex will offer 50 units as supportive housing. The six-story project will also feature ground-floor commercial space and subterranean parking for 116 vehicles.
The apartments will be available for individuals and families earning at or below 30 and 80 percent of the area’s median income level.
Construction cost is estimated to reach $123 million. The project is expected to break ground in Winter 2027 and finish constriction in 2029.
