Ground has been broken for 11101 Carlos Street, in Ventura. The project has been titled “Citrus III,” by developer Daly Group. The first Citrus apartments have been completed a few streets away, and work is starting for Citrus II, which is across the street from the original Citrus building.
Citrus III will be on a separate, 1.6 acre lot, the smallest of all the Citrus projects. It will be two to three stories tall with 53,000 square feet of floor. 43 units will be inside, 24 of which will be one-bedroom designs, and 19 will have two bedrooms. There will be five affordable housing spaces, with one under the very low income tier, two under the low income tier, and two under the moderate income tier. 1200 square feet of commercial space will be on the ground floor.
The units will be built around a central courtyard, which will have outdoor living space with lounge furniture and an outdoor kitchen and grilling area. Balconies on many of the units will face around the courtyard. A couple of units will be connected to the commercial space, making them live/work arrangements. There will be 77 parking spaces, and 8 bicycle parking spaces.
Daly Group states the project, “Activates the street and looks to continue creating an oasis of mixed use or housing and commercial in an area that has very little currently but is rapidly developing due to its proximity to Ventura and the coast.” The architectural design is by KTGY. It incorporates elements from the previous Citrus designs, which the firm also worked on.
