After failing to secure tax incentives for a hotel project, the owners of the site are opting to entitle the property for a mixed-use residential development. Ground Broken at 777 North Front Street, Burbank, Los Angeles

Ground has been broken at 777 North Front Street for the massive LaTerra Select project in Burbank, Los Angeles. The site will bring much-needed housing to Burbank, which has one of, if not the highest, shortages of housing to job ratios in the state, with employers such as Walt Disney, Warner Brothers, and Nickelodeon Animation located close by. The site will be the largest of LaTerra’s developments to date.

Apartment Complex Planned At 5001 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles

An eight-story apartment complex is planned at 5001 Wilshire Boulevard in Hancock Park. The project proposal includes the construction of 242 residential units and the demolition of a strip mall. The retail center that will be replaced was built in the 1980s at the northwest corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Highland Avenue. Pacific Springs LLC is the developer property owner. TCA Architects is managing the design concept and construction of the project.

“Wallace on Sunset” has opened in Hollywood. The property, located at 6240 Sunset Boulevard, was developed by Essex Property Trust. It is named after the famous performer Beryl Wallace, who, in the 1930s, used to perform at the historic Earl Carroll theater next door.

The structure, in development by LaTerra, will bring more housing to the Venice Mar Vista Arts District, recently created by the City of Los Angeles. The site was purchased in 2019. The location is a short drive from Google, Facebook, Apple, Amazon Studios, and Sony.

The exterior of 21050 West Kittredge Street, in Canoga Park, is close to being finished. The seven story building is another development by Hanover Company, who are also handling the construction. It is named the Hanover Warner Center.
