Apartments have opened at 151 South Olive Street, in Downtown Los Angeles. The project has been titled “The Grand LA,” but the residential tower is specifically named “The Grand by Gehry,” after Frank Gehry, the renowned architect behind the project. The long anticipated, double towers, are situated directly across the street from the Disney Concert Hall, which Gehry also designed.
A new affordable housing project has completed wood framing at 1819 Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica. The project proposal includes the development of a four-story building offering affordable residential units, commercial space, and onsite parking. Community Corp. of Santa Monica is the project developer. Brooks + Scarpa is responsible for the design concepts.
Levels are rising at 200-250 North Vermont Avenue, in Koreatown. The project, a partnership between Hankey Investment Company and Jamison Properties, will be mixed use, bringing more residential to what is largely a commercial stretch. The project is expected to wrap up between 2022 and 2023.
A new apartment building is under construction at 3301 Canfield Avenue in Palms, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of a six-story apartment building constructed just north of the 101 Freeway. The project replaced three single-family homes and a triplex on the site. Helio is the project developer. Reed Architectural Group is responsible for the design concepts.
The historic Bilak Building, first built in 1928, at 688-698 South Alvarado Street and 7th Street in Westlake, is receiving a remodel. Many of the structure’s Art Deco design elements will be maintained. Midwood Investment & Development is behind the redesign.
